Hey, I'm Elijah!


For the new people here, I'm Elijah Lightfoot, a photographer based in Knoxville, Tennessee, but always happy to travel wherever the opportunity takes me, whether that's across the country or across the world.

I was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, alongside my four siblings. I've loved photography for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was always the one with a camera, wanting to document whatever we were doing. I think a lot of that came from how much I enjoyed looking through old family photos. There's something special about seeing a moment from years ago and remembering exactly how it felt to be there.


Funny enough, photography wasn't my first career. I graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and later earned my master's in Occupational Therapy from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. I spent several years working in healthcare before eventually turning my love for photography into a career.


Over the years, I've learned that great photos come from knowing when to give direction and when to get out of the way. I take the details seriously. How someone is positioned, where the light falls, what's happening in the background. All of those things matter to me. But I also love the moments you can't plan for. The genuine laughs, the quiet interactions, and the little things happening when nobody realizes they're being photographed. I want my photos to look great, of course, but more importantly, I want them to feel like you.

One thing that's never changed is how I feel about the importance of photographs. It's pretty incredible to think that the images we take today might be the very ones our children, grandchildren, and generations beyond will look back on someday. Long after we're gone, those pictures will still have stories to tell.


Knowing I get to play even a small part in preserving those memories is something I'll never take for granted.
